Microcomputer flowmeter
DFM 1197

   A dimensionally small, portable measuring instrument enjoying a lot of interest. The flowmeter is manufactured according to solutions developed in EMIOR. DFM 1197 is based on micro manometer measurement of pressure differences with its own temperature probe and moisture measurement probe, measurement of barometric pressure.
   It can be used with any type of impact pressure (accumulation) probes (tubes), as well as measurement reducers. It is only necessary to know their calibration constant values K. It is applied for measurement of gas rates. Final results are presented in the form of a report with calculated values of gas stream referred to real and stipulated conditions both for dry and moist gas.

    The DFM 1197 flowmeter is applied in measurement of gas rate using an accumulation tube, possibly with the option of connecting an anemometric head, TAD type, to measure low rates. In case the flowmeter is provided with a probe for measuring relative moisture, the instrument enables determination of gas moisture degree. The unit is particularly useful to identify rate profile by registration of dynamic pressure distribution in the duct section being tested. The extended programme of flowmeter operation covers ongoing calculations of gas rate in the duct. Final results are shown in the form of a report including calculated values of gas stream referred to actual and stipulated conditions both for dry and wet gas. One additional feature of the unit is the possibility of using it as a recorder for measurement data from gas multi-analyser, MULTOR 610 type, where also rate measurement can be conducted during the registration taking into account changes of gas density resulting from ongoing change of composition, also from the change of water vapour level in the gas being tested. In the case of such application of the unit, the flowmeter registers and processes data from the analyser and calculates volume of bulk stream for individual gas compounds based on the gas rate measurement. During the measurement it is possible to set up the time of averaging for the registered values. Memory for measurement data enables long term registration. For example, for the averaging time of every minute it is possible to save data from the period of approx. 24 hours. The programme enables calculation of concentration for the given reference oxygen value in dry gas which is consistent with current legal requirements.

    The DFM 1197 flowmeter is addressed to environmental protection services in heat & power generating plants, power stations, steelworks and big industrial sites, and also to testing, control and environmental protection units. It can also be applied in laboratory systems in measurement of flow in closed pipe ducts equipped with any type of measurement reducer. The algorithm of the DFM 1197 flowmeter operation is consistent with recommendations of PN-Z-04030-7:1994 and PN-87/M-34129 standard.

    The DFM 1197 flowmeter enables:

  • co-operation with any type of probes for accumulation pressure measurements;
  • automatic measurement of barometric pressure and ambient temperature;
  • automatic measurement in the duct of: accumulation pressure, relative pressure and temperature of gas, and optionally relative moisture of gas;
  • automatic compensation of supply voltage fluctuation and converter zero drift compensation;
  • calculating results and registering data in the memory;
  • automatic recording of source values such as: temperature of the units' environment, temperature of gas in the duct, accumulation pressure, relative pressure, barometric pressure, barometric pressure and relative moisture, as well as recording additional information such as: date and time of starting the measurement, number of measuring axis, type of accumulation probe applied, number of current measurement and registration on the object in the given measurement series identified by the code, and area of the measuring section in the duct being tested;
  • calculating and recording outcome values including: gas rate in the selected points of the measuring section, degree of gas moisture and, with respect to co-operation with MULTOR 610 analyser: CO2 proportion calculated based on O2 proportion and the given CO2max value or type of fuel, density of dry gas calculated from measured proportions of individual gas compounds and density of moist gas, based on measurement of relative moisture or the given gas moisture degree;
  • automatic preparation of measurement reports in the form of a sheet:
    1. measurement sheet including subsequently registered values of individual source values;
    2. results of flow measurements including calculated value of gas volume stream, both for real and stipulated conditions, for wet and dry gas;
    3. results of measuring gas contamination (option with an analyser) including bulk streams (emissions) of given gas compounds;
  • review of results on alpha-numerical display;
  • printing reports on a computer printer or thermal object printer;
  • transmission of report forms and measurement data to personal computers in order to save them on a hard disk or floppy disks and potentially further reprocessing e.g. in EMISJA programme.

   The DFM 1197 flowmeter unit contains a special computer system which controls all functions in the measuring and reporting process. The software used enables flexible meeting of individual user's requirements with respect to data processing.

   The following sensors were used in the unit: differential pressure, relative pressure and barometric pressure sensor. A temperature probe is used to measure gas temperature in the duct. A hygrometric probe (optional) is used to measure relative moisture of gas. A RS232C connector is used to send measuring data from the analyser. A galvanic separation is used on external measuring routes to prevent influence of electrostatic interference, and also anti-interference ferric filters are included reducing impact of interference coming from radio transmitters / converters and mobile telephony.
