Suck-in unit AZ-15

Destination

The AZ-15 type suck-in unit is used to suck in air and non-aggressive industrial gases not requiring flameproof protection. It suitable for co-operation with gravimetric dust meters for dust emissions, as well as EMIOTESTR and EMITEST. It can be used also in other sets for measurement of gas emission.

Design and operation

The unit contains an oil-free rotatory blade pump made of cast iron material and driven directly by a single-phase induction motor. The pump consists of a cylindrical body (1) closed with a cover (2) in which a suck-in impeller (3) is fitted eccentrically on the extended shaft of the motor. The impeller has four symmetrically located slots along the whole length in which blades are fitted (4). The blades supplied by LE CARBONE - LORRAINE company (France) are made of a special self-lubricating composite. During a rotation, the impeller blades move out as a result of centrifugal force and they slide on cylinder coating (1).
Eccentric settlement of the impeller against the cylinder brings about the effect of sucking in the gas agent from the inlet stub (5) to the outlet stub (6). There is an acoustic exhaust damper (7) fitted on the outlet stub. There is a ball cut-off valve fitted on the inlet stub. The unit motor (8) is equipped with an electric circuit breaker (9) interlocked with the start-up condenser and mains socket for connection of the supply cable provided with a plug including a protecting contact. The motor is protected from overload with a thermal switch fitted in the impeller winding.

Design of the AZ-15 suck-in unit.

Application of the unit

Finishing running on the user's premises is not required because the pump is delivered already after the finishing run at the manufacturer's. The pump can be immediately used for normal operation.
The unit should be used in a place not exposed to direct atmospheric precipitation. Connection to the 220-230 V / 50 Hz mains should be made through a protective differential current circuit breaker. Fluctuation of 220 V power supply voltage cannot exceed 10 % of the nominal voltage. With voltage fluctuation above 10 % the unit should not be started.

Do not use the pump with the completely closed aspiration route.

The pump body warms up on its own as a result of friction, however even when the gas at high temperature is sucked in there is no risk of pump overheating. In case the acceptable temperature is exceeded, the unit will be switched off automatically. When cooled down, the unit can be started again.
After the end of operation the pump should be "blown" with atmospheric air for minimum time of 15 min. to clean and dry interior of the pump.
Good quality of materials used to make the pump and careful processing of details ensure that the pump utilised according to these recommendations is a stable and reliable piece of equipment.
Periodically (after approx. 5 hours of pump operation) condition of the exhaust damper should be examined. In the case of contamination, it should be removed and cleaned.
